Since we are started now, I figured I should probably get my reward system for AR figured out! I spent the weekend scanning websites and soliciting ideas from some of you out there and I think I have a plan!
This will get us started--once they go beyond 10 points, I will be ready with an additional incentive chart. I don't anticipate that happening for a few weeks though! :)
I made the "Sparkling Reader" and "Glowing Reader" tags mentioned on the chart and I am happy to share them with you now!
So you get to see a live glowing shot because I accidentally activated these!!!
5 glow sticks in a pack at Walmart for $1!
I bought the glitter pencils from Walmart for $1--12 in each pack.
And for one last incentive, I am using an idea left by an Instagrammie:
These fabulous and inexpensive beads will be worn by a student each time he/she earns 1 AR point. They will get to wear it all day and then return it at the end of the day. Sweet and simple. (I think this may end up being their favorite incentive!)
If you would like to snag a FREE copy of the aforementioned tags, visit one of my shops by clicking below:
What kind of incentives do you offer for AR?
Please share below!
Hope you had a great Monday!!! :)
Thanks! These are great! I just bought some glitter pencils from Target today! I have an AR Store and my kids earn AR Bucks and then visit the store once a nine weeks. I also give small treats each time they score a 100% on a test. (Immediate Rewards!)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those sparkling reader pencils! By coincidence, I wrote a post this weekend about how my school rewards our students with an AR incentive system, I know you said you poured over blogs this weekend looking for AR ideas, but check out what I wrote on my humble, little-known blog. : )

Cute idea! I don't use AR, but I could definitely use these for something else!

The Colorful Apple
My fourth graders get a bead for a necklace for every 10 points along with a free mini-pizza our local convenience store provides. The necklace hangs on the bulletin board until the end of the year. I already have a couple students who are 150+ points.
ReplyDeleteLove the incentives! One of the teachers in first grade I worked with for the higher levels gave out a book and if they got 50 pts by the end of the year, they got to pie her in the face. The kids worked hard to reach that one!
ReplyDeleteSo interesting, when I was a child I have this bracelet.

I love all these ideas! I use AR and have never used a reward system, but it does seem like a great motivation. Go you for getting it up and running so early in the year. What do you consider a point...each time they finish a quiz?

These are such great ideas! I can't wait to use them in my class. Thank you for the inspiration!
