Sweet & Simple Saturday Post #9

It's the weekend before school starts!! That mean I have been running around like a crazy person!! Good thing this post is so sweet and simple! ;)

Today's freebie is for phonics/spelling. We had oa and ow as a spelling pattern one week last school year so I made this little sentence unscramble to practice our dictation sentence. It's self-explanatory, so I'll just let you head over to grab it now! Click below to get it:

Though I hope to blog WAY more than I did last school year, I will already not be off to a good start because I will not be around much this next week or so. It will be BUSY BUSY BUSY! Hope you have a great week and for those of you going back to school like I am, have a GREAT first day! :)

Sweet & Simple Saturday Post #8

Haaaaappy Saturday! This is my last one before I go back to school for the new year. It's been quite the summer! WAY sad for it to be over but excited for another year in first grade! :)

A few weeks ago I guest blogged over at Always an Adventure in Kindergarten for my bloggy friend, Lisa. I talked about composing and decomposing numbers and gave away a yummy-looking freebie.

Head over to Lisa's blog to read my post, look around her blog, and grab your sweet and simple freebie!

2013 Classroom Reveal!

Well, I wasn't going to reveal my classroom today AND I already posted about something else today BUUUTTTT I just realized that today is the day to reveal your room! So onto the bandwagon, I go.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, welcome to my classroom!!

View from my outside door--SO sorry about the lighting! :/

The other side of the door. Popcorn words will start to appear when the kids come. They read one word each time they walk out of the door.

Look left when you come in and see this! I made the art on the wall and found the butterflies on clearance at Michaels.

You can get the alphabet print here.

Reading area and math board.

I made the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom number posters--you can find them by clicking below.

Small group table with birthday board behind it.

Writing center and Amazing Authors board! Each student will have a place to display their best work.

Excited about my fun writing bulletin board!

I have made the headers available to you in a few different formats. First up, is chalkboard style (SO hot right now!):

Or you can choose chevron:

Or you can go with plain paper:

2 small group tables (view from my area)

AR bulletin board--maximizing my space and keeping it simple.

Spelling activities

Student mailboxes

Bucket for lost manipulatives, cards, letter tiles, etc.

Went in yesterday and the letter V was missing!! I found it in the lost pieces bucket to the left....not sure how it ended up all the way over there, but at least I know the bucket works. ;)

Writers of the Week bulletin board, reading buddies in the basket, book bags, and lunch tickets in the pocket chart.

Thanks for coming to my classroom!!! :)

I Can Write a...Bulletin Board

I have been working hard and I am so proud to say that my classroom is FINISHED!! I will be revealing it to you either tomorrow or the next day. I do have a little sneak peek + freebie for you today though! :)

Behind our writing materials station, I decided to put up a writing bulletin board that will show examples of things that writers can write. We always have this discussion so a visual to go with it will be great for my kiddos.

The board is very simple, as you can see. It says, "I  Can Write a..." and the examples below that are letter, story, poem, and list. Now, the titles will not be displayed for the students just yet. The titles are up there so you can see how it is supposed to look. I will put them up after we discuss them. On the orange paper will go an example of each type of writing. Easy peasy and oh so helpful for students!

Or you can go with plain white paper:

Take your pick! Have a terrific Tuesday!! :)
